HERMÈS IN MOTION -GALLOP-

二つ目の店舗として完成したのが本館２階の「GALLOP」です。ここは全４店舗の中で最も広く、通路に面して長いことが特徴でした。そこで最も速く疾走する「GALLOP」の馬の脚の動きを基に、空間を長くのびやかに展開していこうと考えました。

ここでは蹄の軌跡に焦点を当て、それを辿っていきます。すると特徴的なアーチ形状となっていることが分かりました。緩やかにM字を描きながら、舞い飛ぶように走っているのです。そこで、この力強くも軽やかな馬の脚の軌跡を木の横架材というストラクチャーに置換して、空間化を試みました。

まず既存の柱を繋ぐように90mmx150mmのツガ材の梁を通し、それと並行して共用通路側に65mm角のカラマツのLVL材(側面ツガ単板貼り)で作った「ギャロップアーチ」を立ち上げます。これら二つをレールとして45mmx90mmのツガ材を架け渡していきます。ルーバーと呼ぶには太いこの横架材は、二本一組の挟み梁となって力を伝え、ストラクチャーとして空間を作り出しています。奥の壁にも同じ構造材を用いたギャロップアーチの什器を立ち上げることで、空間全体に躍動感のある風景が展開していきます。

木漏れ日にように落ちてくる光や、多種多様な植栽も相まって、ここに豊かな散策空間が生まれています。そして動きを纏ったこのストラクチャーがストアの華やかなファサードとなり、「HERMÈS IN MOTION」の二つ目のシンボルとなっていくことを期待しています。

"GALLOP" was completed as the second store. It was the largest of all four stores and was characterized by being long facing the aisle. Therefore, based on the movement of the legs of the horse of "GALLOP" that runs fastest, I thought about expanding the space for a long time.

Here we will focus on the trajectory of the hoof and follow it. Then, it turned out that it had a characteristic arch shape. While drawing a gentle M-shape, it runs like a fly. Therefore, I tried to create a space by replacing the trajectory of this powerful and light horse leg with a structure called a wooden cross member.

First, pass a 90mmx150mm hemlock beam so as to connect the existing pillars, and in parallel, launch a "gallop arch" made of 65mm square hemlock LVL material (side hemlock veneer) on the common passage side. .. Using these two as rails, we will bridge 45mm x 90mm hemlock lumber. This horizontal material, which is thick to be called a louver, acts as a pair of sandwiched beams to transmit power and create a space as a structure.

By setting up a gallop arch fixture that uses the same structural material on the back wall, a dynamic landscape will develop throughout the space.
