HERMÈS IN MOTION -CANTER-

伊勢丹新宿店にオープンしたエルメス・テンポラリーストア「HERMÈS IN MOTION」。全４店舗展開される中の三つ目が本館１階の「CANTER」です。ここでもエルメスの原点と言える馬の脚の動きから形を抽出し、散策を促す動的な場を立ち上げようと考えました。

百貨店の正面玄関に近いこの場所は、人通りが多く、小さいながらも様々な人の目に留まるスペースでした。そこで駈け足を意味する「CANTER」の馬の脚の動きを用いて空間を立ち上げていきます。線に置換された脚の形を連続写真のように捉え、それらを木製のルーバーとして壁面全体に展開していきます。厚さ30㎜のツガの集成材でできたこのルーバーは、動きに合わせて粗密の伸縮を繰り返していきます。さらに馬の体のラインに沿って200mm～400mmの奥行きを持たせることで変化のある影が落ち、動きの立体化を試みました。

こうして馬の動きのダイナミズムが空間全体に立ち上がることで、自然と人が引き込まれ、中央に立つ既存柱を中心とした回遊動線が促されていきます。

壁画のように立ち上がったルーバーには色鮮やかなスカーフが巻かれ、ファッションアクセサリーや革小物が散りばめられていきます。動きの構成を持つグラフィックを纏った什器とともに、その風景が「HERMÈS IN MOTION」の三つ目のシンボルとなっていくことを期待しています。

"CANTER" is the third of the four stores. Here, too, We wanted to extract the shape from the movement of the horse's legs, which can be said to be the origin of Hermes, and set up a dynamic place that encourages walking.
Close to the front entrance of the department store, this place was crowded and was a small space that caught the eye of various people. Therefore, we will set up the space by using the movement of the horse's legs of "CANTER" which means "running legs". The shape of the legs replaced by lines is captured like a series of photographs, and they are expanded as wooden louvers over the entire wall surface. Made of 30 mm thick hemlock laminated lumber, this louver repeatedly expands and contracts as it moves. Furthermore, by giving a depth of 200 mm to 400 mm along the line of the horse's body, changing shadows are cast and an attempt is made to make the movement three-dimensional.
In this way, the dynamism of the horse's movement rises throughout the space, which naturally draws in people and promotes a wandering line centered on the existing pillar that stands in the center.
A colorful scarf is wrapped around the louver that stands up like a mural, and fashion accessories and leather accessories are studded. I hope that the scenery will become the third symbol of "HERMÈS IN MOTION" along with the fixtures wearing graphics with the composition of movement.
