HERMÈS IN MOTION -WALK-

エルメス・テンポラリーストア「HERMÈS IN MOTION」が伊勢丹新宿店にオープンしました。馬具から始まり、馬と共に歩んで来たエルメス。その原点にまで遡り、そこから散策を促す動的な場を立ち上げようと考えました。ここで私達は馬の特徴的な走り方「WALK、TROT、CANTER、GALLOP」を用いてそれぞれの空間化を試みています。

全４店舗のうちまず２店舗がオープンとなり、その一つ目となるのがメンズコレクションストアです。ここでは、頭を高く上げて悠然と歩く馬の姿が、男性の堂々とした気品ある姿のイメージと重なることから、「WALK」の馬の脚の動きを基に空間を展開しています。

そこで脚の傾きとその動きを具に観察していくと、蹄や関節から成る６つの点と、それらを結ぶ５つの線に置換して動きを描写できることが分かります。中でも「WALK」は、大地をしっかりと捉え、凛として立ち上がるそのラインと動きの連なりが一際美しく、それらを秩序立てて並べることで空間を作っていこうと考えました。

また一連の動きの中で、前脚と後脚が同じ位置に着地していくことも「WALK」の特徴の一つです。そこで前後両脚から２本ずつ抽出したラインを重ね合わせて一つのストラクチャーとし、それを直径19.1mm、厚さ1.2mmのスチールパイプを用いて作ります。実際の馬と同じスケールで立ち上げ、右から左へ歩いていくように配置することで、あたかも馬が靖国通りから悠然と歩いて入店してきたかのように感じるかも知れません。

こうしてスペース中央にストラクチャーが配され、そこにスカーフが巻かれ、その周りに洋服や鞄が並んでいくと、自然と人を引き込む回遊動線が生まれていきます。最後にエントランスの両脇に直径42.7mmの一回り大きなオブジェを門松のように立ち上げることで、動きを纏ったこのストラクチャーがストアの華やかなファサードとなり、「HERMÈS IN MOTION」のシンボルとなっていくことを期待しています。

The Hermes temporary store "HERMÈS IN MOTION" has been opened at Isetan Shinjuku department store. Hermes started with harness and walked with the horse. I thought about going back to that origin and setting up a dynamic place to encourage walking from there.

Here, we are trying to make each space by using the characteristic running style of horses "WALK, TROT, CANTER, GALLOP".

Of the four stores, two will open first, and the first is the men's collection store. Here, the figure of a horse with its head raised high and walking calmly overlaps with the image of a man's dignified and elegant figure, so the space is developed based on the movement of the horse's legs in "WALK".

By observing the inclination of the legs and their movements, we can see that the movements can be described by replacing them with 6 points consisting of hoofs and joints and 5 lines connecting them.

Above all, "WALK" firmly grasps the earth, and the line and the sequence of movements that stand up dignifiedly are outstandingly beautiful, and I thought about creating a space by arranging them in an orderly manner.
